With the U.S. U-17 WNT for WCQ in Grenada
After working with the U-17, U-20, U-23 and full Men's National Teams, in February I had the chance to work my first U.S. Women's National Team camp. It was with the U-17 WNT for their World Cup qualifying tournament which was played in Grenada.
Even though we had dominated this tournament for the first four editions, we didn't qualify for the last U-17 WNT World Cup, so the pressure was on this group to get the job done. And did they ever. Unfortunately I had to leave after the group phase - which we swept with wins over Jamaica, Mexico and Costa Rica. The girls then beat Canada in the semifinals to clinch a spot at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Jordan, and then defeated Mexico again in the final to win the 2016 CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship.
On personal stats, this was the third WCQ tourney I served as press officer for - and third in which we secured a spot at the respective World Cup (last year with the U-17 and U-20 MNTs). It was also my first time in Grenada, checking off another country.
